Te Waka has several organisations to thank for supporting us and funding us so that we have the freedom to do the work we need to do, to make the change we seek in the region.
We do and will receive funding from three categories of organisations – businesses, regional trusts, and local/central government.
In particular, we thank NZTE and Callaghan Innovation who have long supported the Business Growth Services team at Waikato Innovation Park (the team is now part of Te Waka) and who will continue their support of us.
They’re joined by our local territorial authorities, most of whom have been involved in the Waikato Plan, and are now helping fund Te Waka. Their faith and financial support is crucial to the success of our new economic development agency. And we also acknowledge WEL Energy Trust in particular which has strongly supported Waikato Means Business.
We’re currently talking with many major regional businesses and organisations who are keen to support us and understand the importance of a cohesive approach through Te Waka.
A particular group of organisations funded the economic development summit at the end of August. Our thanks go to WEL Energy Trust, Waikato Regional Council, the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment through the Provincial Growth Fund and the Ministry of Social Development.
